This trip begins by turning off W-230 (mile #27) east of Woods Landing. The Fox Creek Road travels northwest along Fox Creek and through a small canyon for about one mile. This is a nice drive past cedar, ponderosa pine, spruce, and cottonwood trees. After crossing Fox Creek, you begin following Owen Creek up the canyon for four about miles.
The road then travels through some mountain meadows and across the open top for three miles to a junction with W-11 at mile #9. Along this stretch you can see Medicine Bow Peak above the Centennial Ridge to the northwest, Jelm Mountain to the south, and Lake Mountain to the west. Here you can turn west to Albany and the roads to Keystone and Rob Roy Reservoir (see page 56 and page 58). (Note: Just before joining W-11, you use to be able to take NF-517 west to Owen Lake and Fox Park but that section of NF-517 has been closed. See page 59.)
Turn north on W-11 and the road follows along the base of Sheep Mountain and the South Fork Little Laramie River for about six miles. Here the Dinwiddie Road (A-416) turns northwest and hits W-130 at mile #26. Continue on W-11 as it swings around the end of Sheep Mountain and hits W-130 at mile #22. Here you can turn east to Laramie, or west across the Little Laramie River to Centennial (six miles).
