This little trip begins by turning off I-25 about 12 miles west of Douglas (exit #151) and taking C-13 south toward the foothills of the Laramie Range. Along here you can see Casper Mountain to the west and to the southeast is Table Mountain.

After two miles you come to a junction with the Spring Canyon Road (C-11). Here you can turn east back to Douglas, or southwest to the Windy Ridge Road. There you can either head east to W-91, or west to the Boxelder Canyon Road (see page 32 and page 37).

Continue south for a couple more miles and you drop down into a beautiful little canyon along LaPrele Creek at Ayres Natural Bridge County Park. This is a terrific place to picnic and lounge under peaceful shade trees. The birdlife here in the early spring is outstanding. The park is open between April 1 and October 31.

Krissy, Keith, Robin, and Samantha investigate aquatic invertebrates (bugs) in LaPrele Creek for a scientific research project at East Elementary.
