This trip begins by turning south off W-258 (Wyoming Boulevard, Casper Outer Belt Drive) at mile #13 (accessed from W-220 mile #113, or I-25 exit #185). Here you take W-251 toward Casper Mountain. After two miles, you pass W-252 going west past Garden Creek Falls and back to Casper. Stay on W-251 and the road turns away from the falls and begins climbing switchbacks up the side of Casper Mountain.

The road travels through stands of spruce, pine, and aspen. After four miles you pass by the Hogadon Road (N-504) going west to the ski area. Here W-251 ends and N-505 continues through Casper Mountain Park and Beartrap Meadow Park for about two miles.

The road then begins to drop down the other side toward Muddy Mountain and the pavement ends. Here the road turns southwest toward the Pedro and Ferris Mountains off in the distance. As the road continues to drop down, you pass by a side road going to the summit of Muddy Mountain.

The Circle Drive Road now begins traveling past cedar trees and red bluffs to a junction (seven miles). Here you can take the Coal Mountain Road (N-401) northwest along the base of Coal Mountain to US-220 at mile #101 (eight miles). You can also turn southwest for one mile and hit W-487 at mile #64.
